BADBADNOTGOOD formed at Humber College in Toronto in 2011, initially as a jazz trio covering hip-hop classics. IV, their fourth album, is where they arrived fully: a 11-track suite that moves between jazz, soul, ambient and instrumental hip-hop with a guest list that includes Future Islands' Sam Herring, saxophonist Colin Stetson and KAYTRANADA. 'Time Moves Slow' is the album's emotional centrepiece — a glacial ballad with Herring's baritone searching for something just out of reach. Gilles Peterson championed them early; Kendrick Lamar and Frank Ocean later sought them out as collaborators.
