Cantaro Ihara (イハラカンタロウ) is a Tokyo singer-songwriter who writes, arranges, sings, plays, mixes and masters his own records — a one-man studio steeped in seventies soul, AOR and city pop. つむぐように (Twiny) was released as a 7-inch single in December 2022, a stylish, mellow-soul gem that earned a remix from South London producer edbl and a spin on Gilles Peterson's BBC playlist. It later opened a side of his acclaimed album Portray. Sweet, groovy and impeccably crafted, it's modern Japanese mellow soul at its most quietly irresistible.
