Cerrone was the French drummer who helped invent Euro disco, and 'Supernature' — the title track of his 1977 third album — is his masterpiece. Built on an ARP synthesizer he first used at London's Trident Studios, it imagines a future where laboratory-made creatures rise to take revenge on mankind, set to dark, mechanical, proto-techno disco. It became a worldwide club hit and a blueprint for the electronic dance music of the decade that followed.
