Dara Puspita were Indonesia’s all-female garage rock legends, formed in Surabaya in 1964. They played fuzz guitar, bass, and drums with a ferocity that belied their presentation, touring across Southeast Asia and reportedly becoming the first Indonesian band to tour Europe. The Garage Years compiles their studio recordings, including Surabaya — a driving, fuzzy track that sounds as urgent today as it did in 1967.
