Dexter Wansel was Philadelphia International's resident futurist — a keyboardist and arranger who brought synthesizers and cosmic ambition to the Philly sound. The drum-break intro to 'Theme From the Planets' is hailed as one of the foundation beats of hip-hop, sampled by everyone from Kanye West to Ice Cube.
