Jasmine Myra — Where Light Settles
Where Light Settles · 2026
Label: Gondwana Records · Genre: Jazz / Spiritual Jazz · Country: United Kingdom · From: Leeds, Europe
Jasmine Myra recorded Where Light Settles in five days with her long-standing ensemble at The Nave studios in Leeds — a 13-piece band gathered in one room, all captured live. Her third album is built around duality: the growth that only comes through difficulty, the light that only settles after dark. Her alto saxophone sits deliberately within each track rather than soaring above it, wrapped in strings, harp, flute, guitar, vibraphone, and piano that furl and unfurl around her. Conductor Ozzy Moysey led the ensemble while Myra played, freeing her to be fully present in the music. The result is nine compositions that sparkle like sunlight on water.
Did you know: Myra switched from violin to saxophone at age 14, practising in the car outside her music school because she was too embarrassed to play in front of anyone. She only played in front of people when she felt ready — a patience that shows in music that never rushes to make its point.
