Ryusenkei are a Japanese City Pop band who released Tokyo Sniper in 2006, three decades after the genre's original peak — not as a revival or tribute act, but as musicians who had never stopped believing in the genre's values. The album became one of the most celebrated contemporary City Pop records and has received multiple reissues, including a 2024 20th-anniversary remaster on clear vinyl that sold out immediately. Tokyo Sniper, the title track, is late-night AOR of the highest order.
