4:00 A.M. became Taeko Ohnuki's most famous track and one of the earliest recognisably City Pop songs — a late-night mood piece of extraordinary delicacy, with Ohnuki's voice floating above layered keyboards and understated percussion. Mignonne, released in 1978, is her most consistent album: ten songs with no filler, produced with Juzo Seo and featuring contributions from Haruomi Hosono, Tatsuro Yamashita, and Yukihiro Takahashi.
