The Paradise Bangkok Molam International Band emerged from Studio Lam — the Bangkok venue and label that became the epicentre of Thailand’s global groove revival. Their debut Planet Lam takes traditional Isan molam and runs it through dub production, club rhythms, and the sensibility of artists who’ve spent time in European festival tents. Gilles Peterson and Caribou both endorsed it. Lai Wua (Chasing the Cow) became the track that showed how molam’s hypnotic repetition and dub’s patience for space were always made for each other.
