Tanamur City is named for the legendary Jakarta nightclub that was the city’s creative ground zero in the late 1970s and 80s. This Cultures of Soul compilation gathers Indonesian AOR, City Pop-adjacent boogie, and soft disco from 1979 to 1991 — music made by Jakarta’s urban middle class during rapid modernisation.
